Couples Therapy
-
You don't have to keep having the same fight. You don't have to keep pretending everything's fine. And you don't have to figure it out alone.
Couples therapy isn't about pointing fingers or deciding who's the problem. It's about two people sitting in a room (or on a screen) with someone who can help them actually hear each other — sometimes for the first time in years.
At Ember & Lighthouse Wellness, we help couples navigate the hard stuff: communication breakdowns, trust issues, trauma's ripple effect on a relationship, life transitions, and the moments where you look at each other and think, how did we get here?
-
No two relationships look the same, and neither does the work we do. Some couples come in because they're stuck in a loop they can't break on their own. Others are navigating the aftermath of trauma — theirs, their partner's, or both. Some are fighting to stay together. Some are trying to figure out if they should.
Lexi commonly work with couples dealing with:
Communication that keeps going off the rails
Trust breakdowns, infidelity, and repair
The impact of trauma, PTSD, or first responder stress on a relationship
Intimacy and connection that's faded or fractured
Parenting conflicts and blended family dynamics
Life transitions — deployment, career changes, retirement, loss
Feeling like roommates instead of partners
-
That is Lexi’s specialty; she works extensively with first responders, veterans, and federal agents. Lexi has worked in the field on calls with first responders and seen the impact that has bled over into the home life and marriage — and she understands the ripple effect of how it can impact a relationship. The stress, the schedule, the things you can't talk about at home — we get it, and we can help you navigate it together.
-
No. Plenty of couples come in before things reach a crisis point. If you're feeling disconnected, stuck in the same arguments, or just want to strengthen your relationship, that's a good enough reason.
-
Lexi takes a straightforward, trauma-informed approach to couples work. That means we're not going to sugarcoat things, but we're also not going to let sessions turn into a blamefest. This is a space where both people get heard — and where the real patterns underneath the conflict actually get addressed.
Our approach draws from:
The Gottman Method — research-backed tools for communication, conflict resolution, and rebuilding connection
Trauma-informed care — because when one or both partners are carrying trauma, it shapes the relationship whether you talk about it or not
Person-centered therapy — you're the expert on your relationship. We're here to guide, not to impose someone else's idea of what your partnership should look like
We work with couples the way we work with everyone: real talk, no judgment, and a willingness to sit in the uncomfortable stuff with you.
-
We get that. A lot of couples therapy skims the surface. We're trauma-informed, which means we look at what's actually driving the patterns — not just the surface-level arguments. If there's unprocessed trauma in the mix (and there often is), we know how to work with that.

First session — Couples Intake ($215): This is where we get to know both of you — your history, what's bringing you in, and what you're hoping to change. We'll talk about what's working, what's not, and what the path forward might look like.
Ongoing sessions — 50 minutes ($175): This is where the actual work happens. We'll dig into the patterns, practice new ways of communicating, and build the tools you need to do this differently at home.
Free 15-minute phone consultation: Not sure if we're the right fit? Lexi offers a free 15-minute consult call so you can get a sense of whether this is the right place for you and your partner before you commit to anything.
We're in-network with a range of insurance providers, including United Health Care (Optum, UMR, GEHA, Oscar), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and others. Not sure if your plan covers couples therapy? Reach out and we'll help you figure it out. Some providers vary in plan with couples therapy, if interested reach out to them to navigate benefits.
We also accept debit/credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, check, and cash.
